When Andrey Rublev is on your side of the draw, there’s going to be a battle for every point: the world No. 6 wears his emotions on his sleeve and leaves it all on the court.

Coming off of his first Masters 1000 title at Monte Carlo, Rublev is hungrier than ever before for that next career milestone.

Although winning a Grand Slam is on every player’s bucket list, the 25-year-old can start by reaching his first major semi: 0-7 in slam quarterfinals is quite a statistic, but if anyone can channel the past to fuel his present, it’s Rublev.

Let’s not forget that, in 2021 he achieved something most tennis players will never be able to: an Olympic Gold Medal. At the Tokyo Games, he teamed up with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to take the Mixed Doubles medal for Russia.

That plus his 13 (and counting) ATP singles championships, a career high world ranking in the Top 5, and the new responsibility as godfather to Daniil Medvedev’s daughter is just enough juice to keep the Russian motivated.

He does have to be a good role model for her, after all.
