On Wednesday, Francisco Cerundolo takes on Matteo Berrettini in an exciting matchup at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Cerundolo comes into this one on a better run of form, winning four of his last five matches, including a trip to the quarterfinals at the Miami Open. Berrettini, meanwhile, was actually bounced in the third round of a Challenger tournament in Pheonix after a first-round exit at Indian Wells. He then lost in the first round of the Miami Open. It's far from the best tennis we’ve seen from the 26-year-old.

Even though Cerundolo is playing much better tennis entering this match, it’s still hard to see this one not going Over the game total (21.5). Sure, Cerundolo is more confident and also happens to be the better clay-court player between these two, but Berrettini’s serve will be the biggest weapon on the court. And as long as the Italian is doing a decent job of locating his first serve, this match should be extremely competitive.

While Cerundolo will have a massive advantage when it comes to longer rallies in this match, he’s also the more likely of the two to let a service game slip away. That’s still a part of his game that needs a lot of work, and the slow courts in Monte-Carlo will give Berrettini a little more time to get balls back in play. That will significantly improve one of the Italian’s biggest weaknesses and really level the playing field between these two.

It isn’t hard to picture Cerundolo winning this match, but doing so in straight sets against a player of Berrettini’s caliber is a tall order. On the flip side, this version of Berrettini would really need to come bursting out of a slump in order to bury a high-level dirtballer like Cerundolo. With that said, the best thing to bet in this big matchup is for this one to go to a third set—or feature two very competitive sets that still allow for the game total to go Over.

Overall, we’d strongly suggest staying away from picking a side in this one. Just hope for some good tennis and hope that you have a win wrapped up by the time these two get back on the court for a decider. We’d even suggest taking the Over on the alternate game total of 21.5, rather than the listed total of 22.5. That would allow you to win if this ends up being 7-6, 6-3, either way.
